BLUNDELL SET FOR LATEST BTCC ROUND AT SNETTERTON

Mark Blundell is set for the next round of British Touring Car Championship competition this weekend (3-4 August) as the UK’s premier racing series heads to Snetterton for another trio of races.

The HP-sponsored driver will travel to Norfolk with his Trade Price Cars Racing team to tackle the 2.97-mile Snetterton 300 formation of the circuit as his maiden BTCC season surpasses the half-way point.

Prior to the Snetterton round, Blundell completed the two-day official in-season tyre test at the circuit where he clocked up an impressive 144 laps in his Audi S3 to mark a positive performance where progress was evident.

Now, the 53-year-old can look forward to another exciting weekend of competition as the #8 Intel-sponsored car looks set for another thrilling race weekend of BTCC action.

“The tests we completed at Snetterton a few weeks ago showed that progress has been made,” Mark commented prior to this weekend. “We do still have a long way to go, but we are heading in the right direction after some positive results that the test. It was the first time we have had some sustained running in the car and it gave us the opportunity to try out a few things we have been wanting to do for a little while.”

“We have been making more progress internally over the past few rounds, so I am looking forward to racing at Snetterton this weekend. Being an East Anglian circuit, Snetterton is as close as it comes to a home race for me! It is a track that I’ve enjoyed success at previously and one that I visited on many occasions across my junior career. This weekend will be the first time I’ve raced its new configuration but it is one I am really looking forward to.”

As ever, Saturday’s practice sessions and qualifying will be streamed live via ITV Sport and they commence at 09:30, 12:00 and 15:00 respectively. Sunday will play host to three 12-lap races. The first will get underway at 11:35 with the second at 14:10. The weekend will finish with race three at 17:30. All three showpieces will be broadcast live on ITV4.
